Hi guys;
Photo of the last tractor in the series. In 1966 IH updated the B-414 with 43HP diesel engine, new tinwork & improved gear change. At the same time the B-275 was updated to the 276.
Extras included 2 speed pto - 540 & 720.
Variations of all models (except B-250) included hi-clearance for inter row cultivation with mid mounted hoe; and industrial versions were also made.
Cheers david

Hhm, all I get is a little red X and no picture. I guess it doesn;t matter too much, I know what a british built 434 looks like as my dad had one, right up to a few years ago when it was traded in on a much improved 484. The 434 we had ran very nice, but the biggest issue was with the brakes, they were mechanical brakes, and they never worked!!, dad would spend the day working on them only to have alittle brake for half a day, then they would be out again. I don't miss that tractor, the 484 is sooooo much better, power brakes and everything. I have seen alot of 434 tractors come out of Canada, and for some reason, they are always all beat and not running right, ours ran excellent, and the tin was perfect, but it was a real liability with the brakes being out all the time, not only did they work very hard, but they quickly faded after being worked on, junk junk junk junk junk!!!!.

David: Great to see your photos. Of course we here in Canada are quite familiar with the B-250, B-275, 276, 414 and 434. We both swore by and swore at those first B-250 and B-275. They were an effecient little hay making tractor, but IH didn't climatize them very well for our Canadian winters. Most of them got cured after the first engine rebuild. We always called them a great little summer tractor, but for winter starts in sub zero weather it was a tow start.

Bear in mind also, most Canadians didn't have enough patience to hold the glow plugs long enough. But then, even the best of patience wears thin, sitting on a B-250, at -20F, holding the glow plugs on for 3 to 4 min. I might add IH should have used larger batteries on the ones coming to Canada. Once we got those circulating block heaters, glow plug diesels worked very well.

It was not only the British tractors that didn't like our winters. A Yorkshire immigrant bought a farm near me. We had an exceptionally cold winter that first year he was here. He was beginning to think he would need the tow start, or at least have his head examined. "By the hell fired, but it's cold", he would tell me. I guess he figured only the fires of hell could warm this place up.
