If memory serves, that is the once popular but now seldom seen "Robbie the Robot" conversion. Was all the rage for a few months following the release of the science fiction classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Once the initial excitement passed, the thing couldn't stand rational scrutiny, and most of them quietly disappeared.
