gravely L mag swap

i was just wondering if i could swap the magneto on my gravely from the fairbanks morse that is on it to a wico that is off another L. I want to rebuild the fairbanks but i dont want to lose the use of my gravely as i use it almost every day and the wico's are cheeper used and hot on ebay also is therer a big diffrence in performance or is one mag more dependable thanks chris

Yup, I had F-M, Edison Splitdorf or Eisseman I forget which, and WICOs on my Gravelys back when I had 12 or 13 of them. Just remember if if won't start and pops back through the carb someone had it apart and put it back together 180 out. Just allow for that and if it's got hot spark it should start up if you timed it right.
