The motor stops running after 12 minutes or so, I have changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, plugs & coolant, any ideas? If I let it set for an hour it will start & run for about 10 minutes.

Thanks for any help.

What I know about the GM HEI Ignition Module is if you hold it with the covex curved side up, the top left contact is for +12V or hot side of coil if you have +12V to coil, and the bottom left contact goes to other side of coil. The two terminals at the right end go to magnetic pick-up coil in distributor. Try them either way to see which way it runs best. What I would like to know is how you would wire them to a lawn tractor? Does it have two pick-ups and two coils? These modules must be mounted to a good ground and have heat sink compound under them.

You need to define how its exactly dying. To me, this sounds like a fuel problem. Alot of the things you have done will do nothing to remedy your issue, and mystery oil isnt anything I would be looking at. Your starving out fuel, not valves sticking. Check fuel cap first off, and then the fuel pump if this model has one. It could be carb too!

Sounds to me like the valves are sticking or the tank isn't getting the air it needs as fuel drops. Like Allan said, try Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas.

Valves are sticking; very common ailment. Try running some Marvel Mystery oil thru the gas.

Which engine does this have? 18 HP kawasaki i believe? Either a problem with the ignition system (ELECTRONIC) or possibly a plugged vent in the gas tank, creating a vacuum.. Parts for the electronic are rather pricey. I had a 20 hp V twin kawasaki do the same thing and i retrofitted the ignition module with 2 GM ignition modules? Problem solved for under $30.00 instead of $200.00 plus..... ..... .

Uncle Tom; I'll get the diagram to you as soon as possible (Busy person here) The GM modules "(2) required for v-twin" are from a 350 chevy with the HEI distributor "78" to "79" and produce a hotter spark than the oem junk on the kawasaki..

My old JD RX75 with the 9hp Kawasaki did that and it was the ignition module. Had it tested at the local small engine repair shop and had to buy a new one.

That would be great Shannon, I have a couple of used hei modules and also have a single cylinder JD. I have replaced the module but like the idea of a GM module on it. Thanks
