I want to use an eighties subaru alternator on my Allis WD. Can anyone show me a diagram for hook-up?

That is the reason I want to use a Subaru alt., it is compact enough to fit inside the side rails. The AC-DELCO needs a safety shield.

Jeff, this what you are using? If so hook the terminal "R" to the B terminal on back of alternator. The one marked "L" goes to switch or charge indicator lamp, it is the excite wire for the field windings. I do not have "L" hooked up as it self excites (Same as a one wire)on my alternator.

That is not quite the model Hitachi I have to use. LR155-15C? It has its' "T" shaped double connector marked S (thick wire)and L (thin wire),a battery terminal connector, and "IC REG built in" on the label.

Jeff,

I have an original shop manual for 1993 Impreza, I'll look and see what it says about the alternator wiring and get back to you.

The Subaru Hitachis hook up just the same as a Delco 10SI. I've been using them for years, they are more compact than the Delcos and they are much better built.
