I got out of bed this morning with my weekly headache. Wife told me to fix my own eggs, ate dry cereal. Getting my tractor ready for a mowing job. spilled diesel all over the hood. Got to my mowing job, weeds were thick, and wet from a light rain, and cut real hard. Punched a hole in my rear tire. Here is the only good thing, I had all the tools and jack to remove the tire in the field. On the way to the tire shop I lost a chain binder. Had to replace the tube, but the tire was saved with a boot. 72.00 later I was on my way back to the field. Tire went back on ok. Didn't see the sun all day in that field. With my short sleeve shirt I was cold all day. Tomorrow another field, maybe the sun will be out. Stan in calif

Get out of bed early, fight everything all day long. Nothing goes right. At the end of the day,I stand back and thing to myself,I could have stayed in bed all day long, and got done what I had done today, "NOTHING". Makes a man wonder why there are days like that.

My Dad warned me of those days 50 years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I've always said " I'm so lucky , I'd die and they'd bury someone else "..

Must have been a small tire if you could remove it in the feild and fix it... Just this week we finally picked up our dual tire (18.4-34) that I punched right through the tread because I cut too short with the manure spreader. We had another tire laying around, and the bill came to about $110 for tube & labor. Not too bad considering, but if we didn't have the old Goodyear's laying around we would have been screwed inot probably buying new tires for the tractor and having the old ones mounted on the duals, seems nobody's got any kind of used 18-4's around.

I was at the bone yard today and saw a nice set of Firestones 18.4-38's that would go on our other tractor, kinda curiouse what they would ask..

I have dual 18 4 38's on my JD 5020. This flat was on my MF 231 with 28in. tires. I was able to remove it and load in on my trailer, and take it to be repaired. It was still plenty heavy. A story about my JD. It has two real good tires and two not so good ones. My brother runs a fork lift fork into one of the good ones. I think I used words I haven't used since I got out of the Navy on that day. Stan

My dad put a hay hook right through the tire on our 285 (the same one I ripped the dual open on). It was a hook we lost about 10-15 yeaqrs before that ihn the feild, he was raking hay so we could bale that after noon. Well, the 1600 which was quite tired at the time ended up running the baler because it was the only other one we had that was really big enough(to him). We've run our 165 massey one the baler after that once or twice while I was using the 285 for cutting and my dad and brothers were baling. Worked out pretty good I thought.
