ELLWOOD 4wd on a 4020 deere

Hi, I just bought a 4020 with the ELLWOOD 4wd set up on it. how rare does this make this trator, can anyone give me any info on the ELLWOOD front end and does it add value to the tractor?

ellwood made after market fronts for just about all tractors back in the 70s thy have went buy the wayside but were out of ill. not the best front but thats about all we had in the 70s

Is this the 4020 with ellwood FWA and an M&W turbo on it i seen somewere for sale? Im a massey man and i know the ellwood is seen on the MF 97 quit a bit.
If this is indeed the same deere i saw congradulations on the buitiful purchase.

Congrats on your new purchase. Although I"m not real knowledgeable on the green machines I know that it more than likely didnt come from the factory with that setup. Deere used a hydraulic style power front axel. The elwood is the same or an awful lot similar to the ones found on the early Minneapolis and Massey 4wd tractors. I would say that your tractor is somewhat rare as are most of the early Deere"s with front assist. I"ve only seen or heard of one other, which was on ebay a short while ago. (yours might be the same tractor) Have you tried posting over on the JD board? I will dig through some of my literature and see what I come up with on the elwood front end. Hope this helps. Nick
