Cows are wishing for rain too. Pastures are starting to look short and it's only June. Hot and windy here today.

Cowman

I know how that feels. 2003 was horribly dry for us here. It was worse about 40 miles away near Ashern. Guy's cutting hay with 16 foot MoCos couldn't see their swaths in some places. Instead of haying in July Cows were turned into hay fields. Later in the summer grasshoppers showed up and finished off any green left. Price of hay went from 2 cents a pound to 6 or more. It was the first year of BSE and a cow was worth $100 to $150 so it was not economical to sell the herd down to match the hay.

Good luck and hope it rains soon.

John

I noticed in your corn field pitures that it looks like the cows are waiting by the fence waiting for the corn to grow so they can go after it.

Seems all the rain is going out to eastern US.

yeah right. They may as well wish for hay to fall out of the sky.
