I bought a HD 3/4 ton 5.8 small block 4x4 with 410 gears and a 5 speed manual OD to pull my gooseneck with my tractors. Max weight of tractors, trailer, and truck will be 21,000. Just wondering if anyone else has towed or is towing with about the same size and how it did or is doing. I bought the truck because of the deal and because I only pull the trailer 10-12 times a year within 25 miles of home and couldn't justify a more expensive truck. Thanks in advance for your opinions and input.

Your just flirting with disaster trying to pull that load down the road. Ford has a towing capacity recommendation of 16,000 pound for their dually 1 ton four door diesel pickup with a factor installed trailer brake package and huge brakes and transmission. That f-250 is a liability on the road doing that. I know because I have a 88 f-350 with 5 speed, 4.10 gears, and a 460 and it would have no part of that trailer safely. If you ever get a chance to take apart a transfer case in a new 4wd pickup you will wonder how they pull themselves down the road without breaking (cheap) let alone with a trailer behind them!

You will be fine. We pull the fully loaded gooseneck with a 3/4 Dodge with a 318 and 4-speed. Trailer is rated for 16,000 and that's about what the bales we haul on it weigh.

As long as your trailer brakes are in good shape and set up right you will have no problem stopping.

That's plenty heavy for a 3/4 ton but if you stay on flat roads without any other traffic and if you don't have to stop quick, swerve, or blow a tire you should be just fine. I would consider a real truck if you are going to haul that kind of weight.

I see your including truck weight with trailer and tractor so you must be in the ball park. I have hauled a 660 and 706 on a trailer rated for 14000 lbs, {not both at once } with a 3/4 ton with 4:10s and it pulls no problem at all, can stay at speed limit and pass fords also.
