IN my state there is a rule (law) that prohibits the filling of propane tanks such as those used on a bbq grill ,from being filled after 9 in the evening before it was around 7 oclock, well anyway no one seems to know exactly why this is.Help me sleep tonite lol

White oak all the way! Get wood that doesn"t have any sap wood on the edges. It is considered a boat building wood and is tough stuff! I would not use rough cut as it leaves low spots for water to collect and will let fungus get started. As for water proofing, Mopping it down with used motor oil mixed with kerosene to thin it works exellent, and you get a new supply everytime you change oil in something. Also put some in an old sprayer with some kero to thin it and spray the underside. Main thing is to not let fungus get started in the wood. If you are worried about skidding on the oil just toss sand over it afterwards. The only drawback is if it gets wet with the oil on it, it will get slick! the first year or two put the oil on twice a year and after that once a year should be good if you oil it in the fall when you are done for the winter. If you do all that the wood might outlast the trailer!

Couple years ago in my comunity 2 experienced men were filling tanks with propane on a still -no air movement evening-something went wrong an explosion an fire like no other i ever seen took place with i person killed an other person burned. This happened to a long time propane dealer. It was attributed to build up of gas due to no air movement an so mavbe that is part of reason for cut offtime. One thing for sure made me respect propane. So lets all be careful barbequing!!!!

for safety thats why they are only allowed to fill to 80%, so somebody must have come up with this crazy idea, because the fillers arnt following the law.just my crazy idea also.

I would assume that it has to do with expansion.

If you fill a tank with cold LP and then the tank warms before using any of it,it could expand and the popoff valve would let loose.

Safty would be the reason I assume.

In many cities in my state, they will give a car owner a ticket for leaving the keys in his/her own car, but they won't actively go after someone who steals that car....

The laws make no sense when the criminals are free to do what they want, but the honest folks are told they are breaking the laws.

Read in another forum where can't buy spray paint unless you are over 30 in another state. So a fellow can't buy a little paint to make his place look nicer (probably will get a ticket for blight!) but the kids who write graffitti everywhere aren't even slapped on the wrist any more, they are just kids being kids.... They have no problem getting paint....

Filling propane tanks takes a little common sense. Duh.

Can't see why we have to make crimials out of honest folks, and let all the dummies/ crooks roam around free.

Enough soap box from me.

It will take a good wagon to stay behind a tractor going 60.
