Hi All,

Yesterday, I went out and tried to salvage what was left of this burnt up alfalfa crop.

Good news is that now I won't have to watch it suffer anymore. :>(

Allen, why do you need to rake that?? Is it just to put in into a larger windrow to accomodate the round baler? That sure is one small crop and hardly looks worth the fuel costs to take off. Here in the southern interior of BC we are having an unusually wet spring. Haven't run my irrigation for two weeks which is OK by me. A few less chores to do.

Allan, At least you got something green to cut for the year so far. Now you can try out that shiny like new rake. You'll have some nice hay put up before you know it. Nothing here dryland ever got green yet and still all brown pasture grass. Saw enough of it burning last night looked like world on fire for a bit. Seeing the irrigated guys here really struggling just to get things wet enough to get some cotton and corn up and if no rain soon they are in for a long summer or disaster and many won't survive another disastered crop.

Allan: You'll hate me for this, but I started planting corn on the 8th of May and it started to rain. Went out again on the 10th and got a quite a bit done before it started to rain again around midnight. It then rained for the better part of two weeks. Finally finished on the 23d, just barely because it was so wet. Wish I could have sent some of it your way!

Allen, looks like it's going to be another bad year to grow anything. Was south of Agate in sioux county yesterday and the prarie grass is only a couple inches and turning brown. looks like the first of august already. This hot wind we've been getting doesn't help. The up side is, you can see the rattle snakes 50 yards ahead of you.

Hi Ol' Bud,

I killed three the first week in April and haven't seen one since. Maybe they are takin' this year off?

Bet those windmills are runnin' you ragged this year?

Allan

Wondered where you were all day Allan. Did you see the pics I put up of planting feed? Supposed to be 100° here today and the wind is going to blast what's left of the wheat. I gotta go work on my Hesston. There will be thousands of acres of failed wheat to cut after today.

Yes Sir,

Where the heck do you find all those sweetheart tractors?

I'm not a big fan of the the trikes, but that one sure looks like it should live on that old M; what a nice old find! :>)

Wind blew here yesterday at about 40 knots all day long. 'Course there is no moisture to deplete anymore. Oats crop has stopped dead in it's tracks and like you say, wheat will be turning purple in a day or two. :>(

That almost looks like a little rise on the left of the top pic. Just a suggestion of a hill.

Have a good day. Gary

Mornin' Gary!

Aw heck, this is just normal Nebraska. :>)

Field is 46 acres which took 8 hours to cut with the 12' bar. Tractor and mower didn't miss a beat; today we'll see how the little rake works. :>)

I know the feeling. Been dryed out like that often enough. I got used to it, I think you have, too. Not everybody on this continent can see as far as you can from that tractor seat!! Maybe thwe world is flat after all.
