Okay guys. If there's a way to f**k up a two car funeral, I can do it. In the picture, on the right side, that is the front of the tractor. Does that end of this Behlen pump have to be on the back or does it matter? and also, does it matter which way the hoses hook up to this pump? I got everything else plumbed in and the three point still works on the back, but no power steering. Just wondered if the "sensor" in the pump is in the big end and I got it mounted backwards. If it is possible, I can do it. Only killed a day doing it this way. Thanks, Harley

It is simply Internet Service Provider....one example: AOL

Maybe it should be kin to ESP with 19,19 ,19 HUH..:>)

Harley,
Your photo needs to be on the Stuck & Troubled
gallery with your other you have there.
Few years back I was trying to hook up a power steering on my tractor a little different setup but I had one of my Hydraulic lines backwords and when I started up the tractor I had hold of the steering wheel and it spun around like a top and it like to throw me off the tractor when that happen. If it wasn't for the fender being there I'd be on the ground. It won't be long and the weather will be to hot and you won't wanna get out of the pool from being to cold.
Take care down your way..... can't help you much on the poer steering.

Harley, there is a manual in the Vintage Ads, #48-63. Very comprehensive listing. I think I am going to save it in my Farmal folder for future referance...HTH

Okay guys, just couldn't wait till tomorrow, you know how it is. went down and unhooked hoses and have oil running through the pump both ways, that is whether the pressure hose is on one fitting or the other. Came back up here, saw Allan's post and went back down and turned the valve up all the way to nine. Still nothing. The oil runs through the pump with some pretty good feeling pressure, but the steering wheel won't turn.. Now, if I get both hands up there and TURN it, it turns like it did with no power steering on it, but the pump isn't doing anything. The only thing I see from my picture different from the installation picture is I have the pump laying flat, where they have the big bulby part standing upright. I can't think this would make any difference though would it? I laid it down so the hood would fit. The only thing left I can see is a faulty pump. Oh goody. Harley

OK, Harley, according to the trouble shooting chart, two things could be the problem

1. low fluid pressure
2. Dirt in the relief valve cartridge.

Well dagnabit Keith, that picture is just how I got this one on here. Now I am stumped. Gonna havta go play the "take the hose off and see if anything comes through" game. Thanks again, Harley. Looks like it might be a messy day tomorrow. Gonna stock up on shop rags in the morning.

Harley, just make sure your hoses are hooked up correctly to the steering unit. Also you might need to allow more hydraulic fluid to go to your power steering , try increasing the setting on flow control valve.

Harley,

Will that motor even turn? Or is it just no power steering?

Also, before you rip and tear, try giving it full pressure to see if that will wake it up.

Dunno,

Allan

Harley,

I just can't remember. Last one of those I was around was on a 400 way back in '56 or so. However, it "looks" backwards to me because the "rationing" ought to take place in the big housing.

Also, did you remember to feed it 3 1/2 gallons from the priority valve? Can't tell you about the "in/out" thing. It isn't marked?

Allan

Ya you two guys are the power steering gurus on here. I put that valve at 3 1/2 the day it came in about 3 months ago like you said then, and plumbed the other ports today, and no power steering. That's what makes me think I got it end for end. No there are no markings for in or out, but tomorrow I'll turn it around after I look through Keith's directions, and I'll just bet it works. There'
s just nothing like spending all day doing something just to find out that ya screwed it all up and gotta do it all over again tomorrow is there. Course you never do that I know. (Hydro trans.) So now I know how ya feel. But I'll get it, Thanks again guys , Harley

Looks like you have it the right direction, small diameter to rear. Theres 2 size ports on power steering unit, the smallest one is where pressure line goes, the other needs to return to reservior or suction side of pump. Think your PS unit has a problem.

Boy Allan, you are luckeeee. I was typing a message to your response and got knocked off net. Had a severe thunder storm, with 70 mile an hour winds roll through at 4:24 pm. I was going to give you heck about having a faster ISP...LOL
