I have an opportunity to purchase a 1940 Farmall M with a factory? wide front, fenders, and it is a factory 6 volt system with lights that still work. It has been stored inside for past 20 yrs and put a battery in it and new gas and it cranked over four times and fired right up.
Paint is faded quite a bit but tin is in great shape. Whats it worth the way it sits, and when its restored?

You might have to pay $1,000 to $1,500 just to buy the tractor. Fully restored with new rubber you could expect to sell the same tractor for about $1,800 to $2,000. Buying these old tractors and restoring them is not a paying proposition, most of the time you will not even recover your expenses, let alone get paid for your labor.

Steve, OK it turns over and fires. Now WAS there coolant in the radiator? If not chances stand to reason that it will need attention!
Just bank on needed rubber! (tires)
Will need hoses, wires, and other rubber components.
So if there was no antifreeze in it for the last 20 yrs, you all just put colant it it when ya'll fired it off then figire 3 to 400 for a rework. 1000 for tires bare minimum. 100 for belts, hoses, wires and other rubber compoents.....
Offer 700-CASH but be prepared to go to 1100 to 1200-CASH,for above average tin. Hope this helps.
Later,
John A.
