We had a hail storm go through here , pea size & a little bigger. The ground was covered. My corn is in 3 & 4 leaf stage.I"d say 3 to 4 in high. It is already yellow from all the wet cold whether. Quite a few of the leaves are shredded. In a few places all that is left is the stem. Anyone got any experience weather it will be ok or will I have to replant? Thanks for any advice

Larry,

Have I ever got hail experience; heck, I wrote the darned book! :>)

Your corn is gonna be fine. As long as it hasn't reached the six leaf stage the growing point is still below the ground and it will start over and recover.

Corn always drops those first few leaves anyway, so not to worry.

Darned hail just set you back three weeks is all.

I always took 'er in the shorts during the first part of August, right when it looked the prettiest and all the money had been spent. :>(

Thanks Allan you sure made me feel better! I sure don't want to replant that 125 acres. Now if it don't warm up around here nothing is gonna grow. I just stopped & checked a couple farms with beans. The beans are coming through very slow and they are almost white. Anyone want to trade some rain for some heat??

Yep, the corn will be fine and just set back a bit. Had wheat or milo and corn beat to near nothing but enough rain came with it and came back fine several times. We got some heat I'd send you for lots of rain. Our grass is still just brown and next lightning popper will burn more if it doesn't get wet first.

I wish Allen could have made you "look" better Larry. You'll be using that Hi 620 spraying that corn soon bud.
