Pull disc out on shed flat tire.

Pulled grain drill out and replaced 2 bearings in closing wheels.

Put new landslides on plow. One flat tire on plow.
Bought new field cultivator, second day blew a hydraulic hose. After 900 acres new shovels in the wheel tracks.

On the planter blew a tire,2 gauge wheel bearings went out.

When switching the planter over to beans from corn a cylinder blew an end out when lifting to put it back in the shed for the night.$800 to replace but 4 days to get it.Welded the old one back together with no leaks and it is still working after 350 acres.
Replaced one seed sensor for the monitor.
Last nite the monitor went screwy and will not quit beeping.
I will shut it off and FINISH MY LAST TWENTY ACRES TODAY WITHOUT IT!!! Allans trick.

Providing their are no more break downs.

All in all not a bad spring.

And how was your spring?

Gary

Hey Gary

I should add when I head to the field I always say that I am going out to try and break something.

Only way to be sure and not break down is to leave it in the shed.

Kinda like the only sure form of birth control is abstinance;-)

I am half done with beans here in NW IA.

Usual of a couple moniter eyes not working on the planter. Running with 11 of 12 right now. One flat tire on the disc at the begining.
Had a hat trick of Mondays with treflan last week.
First the 5 year old transfer pump wouldn't run due to rust in the gas tank. $200 for a new one so the 3 hours working on it was a waste.
Then the sprayer rate controller wouldn't work at the begining of the first and second day.
and on the third day Dad calls me that the wheel came off the sprayer tank. Broken spindle!!!
Had the Elevator finish spraying.

With a little luck will be done with Beans Friday.

With flat tires being the most common of your breakdowns, I wonder why you haven't tried flatproofing? Most tires in use on a farm never wear out, they rot away. If you were to use tyrfil (poly fill), your tires would never go flat, and you would get many more years of service out of them. I know it is costly to do up front, but the savings in the long run truly outweigh the upfront costs. If you want more info on the subject, post back with a way to contact you directly, and I will try to answer all of your questions. JohnG

Both flats where from beads leaking setting over the winter.

Put tubes in the tires and now are fine.

Biggest tire problem last few years was BT corn stalks pushing thru the tires.

Solved that by not planting BT corn last year.

Firestone will no longer warranty new tires for corn stalks.

I am glad your tire problems were easily repaired. I reread my post, and it looked like I was trying to sell you something. Honestly that was the last thing on my mind. Just trying to let everyone know of some of the solutions I have found to walking into the machine shed and finding that flat tire. Heck of a way to start a day. JohnG

Gee Whiz, Gary!

Spring just started 4 days ago out here! Summer should kick in today. Haven't had time to analyze yet. :>)
