Hi Guys,

Rebuilding the cutter bar on my old swather.

No sooner than got the outfit drug in from the country, pulled in the yard and the trucking outfit called and said my parts were in. Good timing!

I even managed to get a few of the little rascals bolted on today. Hope to get 'er aligned and shaggin' tomorrow.

That Hydro 70 thinks it is gonna just draw baby sittin' duty, but little does it know that it gonna be spinnin' this old heifer across the Nebraska plain one of these days..... If it doesn't hail out the hay, that is. :>)

Hope your day went well too.

Allan

Allan - If you have trouble aligning those new guards, your New Holland dealer should have a special tool to bend them either upwards or downwards. We just overhauled our 479 this year and borrowed our dealer's tool --- will make up our own to have on hand. Really simple, just a length of pipe with a hook on one side and an eyelet on the other side ---- works real slick !!

Mornin' Tim,

Last one I did was a John Deere #8 mower; 'bout the same thing only it didn't have a reel that I was always dingin' my head on. :>)

That one on the left looks a little loose yet.

LOL!

There's lots of 'em "a little loose" yet. :>)

I just rattled down the ones without the fingers. Still gotta fit the skid shoes on the outsides too (they swing down from a couple of guard bolts on each side).

Allen, as soon as you get time get a couple of truck springs, and use them to half sole the shoes then they will last for a long time. If you don't they will wear out quickly.

Thanks Jimmy,

I noticed that they were a bit weak in the middle. Good idea!

The inside spring on this left side was broken and the darned header was way heavy on the left.

Don't 'spose that did the shoe any good either; couldn't even lift it out front. Had to have been wearing that shoe like crazy. :>(

Not looking forward to ever changing one of these again. That puppy was heavy!
