I know this is off topic for this forum, but I know I'll get the answer I am looking for. How do you know when beets are ready to harvest. I planted some in the family plot and thinking they might be close. Thanks in advance for all ya'lls help.

You'll always get them planted too thick and start harvesting some of larger ones to make room for the others coming along later.

you can eat all of the plant when very small, less than golf ball size.just pull and clean then pop into kettle to steam until tender with a little fat back or bacon.when ready in dish add a little butter and a little bit of vinager, salt if you need?

you can harvest them any time. when they are small, you just don't get as much. my wife starts when they are about the size of golf balls and continues till late fall when they are bigger then softballs
