Hello People, I have to give a good company a plug here on the message board because they deserve it. I was having trouble with the starter on my 3208 cat in my white 4-150 and I found a place on the net called "Nations Starter & Alternator". They are located in Cape Giradeau Mo. Their Phone number is toll free 1-888-334-2632. These people were great and the shipping was lightning fast. I ended up getting a brand new Delco 40 MT replacement starter complete with new solonoid for $259.95. It is very heavy (70 lbs) so it cost $30 dollars to ship. This starter is made in the USA by Wilson Electric and was heavier duty than the original Delco. It has updated brushes and insides and was built heavier although it was exactly the same dimensionally so there were no suprises when I installed it. I did have to turn the cast iron nose cone to the right position but it was very easy. I think I found my problem now because it fires right up every time now. (At least it has so far)! Mine was a 40MT with a clowckwise rotation and a 12 tooth bendix. They have a lot of different applications for many diesel trucks, pickups, tractors, atv, cars, and so on. I like it because they have new and also offered rebuilt for harder to get stuff. I could have gotten a nippondenso gear reduction unit for $499. I didn't but if I had a semi that got used 365 days a year I would have. These guys are really knowledgeable and instantly knew about my tractor and what fit it. It was refreshing to deal with a place that had it together like that. If you need a new or rebuilt starter for something I would look them up. I think they will do you right.
