my neighbor sold me his 154 Cub and it has factory 3 point hitch. the engine needs a new head and other work, my question is the 3 point rare on these models? should I part the tractor out? need some input.

Not really rare in a "collector way" but they are in high demand as they really increase the versitility of the tractor. I'd say it easily adds $300-$500 to the value of a cub vs one that doesn't have a three point.

Yes, the three point is a bit rare on the 154, 184 and 185. They are GREAT mowing machines with the Danco or cub belly mowers. The clutches can be troublesome.

They all need a little engine work after some time. Personally, I would keep it. They don't tend to bring very much needing work, but when they are all there and working and looking good, they probably average about $3000 with a mower, more with a 3 point, creeper gear, front blade, loader or any of the other lo-boy specific attachments.

BTW - If you haven't figured it out, the pto spins the wrong direction. You can't just go buy a post hole digger or a bush hog or anything like that and expect it to work.

Neat little tractors though.

I've seen 3 points for the number series cubs sell for $600 - $700 complete.
