I Interned at CNH a few years ago. I was told that CNH is "CNH Global" and it DOES NOT stand for Case New Holland... There are some many twists and turns no one can keep it all straight. The farm tractors are US made, but the lawn tractors are made in Europe. The Case tractors wont ever have the "super steer" option because that is Newholland's patent. There are all kinds of wierd things like that even though they are all essentially the same company.

Yep, I was in a CNH internal meeting last year where an exec was chastised for saying "Case New Holland" all in the same sentence instead of using "CNH", "Case IH", or "New Holland" separately. Now in the past 6 months they have had substantial branding changes, and if you check their website too, it clearly is permissible to use "Case New Holland" interchangeabley with "CNH", and "CNH Global" has hit the back burner. Talk about confusing.

They are now called C.N.H, I assume that stands for Case-NewHolland. Most all the New holland product literature I see has C.N.H stamped in small print at the bottom.

I'm fairly certain that New Holland/Ford/Case IH is owned by Fiat which is a Italian car manufacturing company.

CNH is a holding company based in Amsterdam that owns Case IH, Case construction equip, New Holland, Steyr, and a couple other companies. See www dot cnh dot com for more.

I thought that the Chairman of Case Ih became the chairman of a holding company that owns both. Also aren't some of the new tractors the same for both companies just with different graphics?

Some of the parts are the same but there are other differences besides paint and tin work.

Yes or No depending how you look at it.

The company that owns Ford New Holland also bought Case IH about two years ago.

Sooo the company that owns Ford New Holland also owns Case IH, but Ford New Holland did not buy Case IH.

Confused yet.

Talk is they are letting them operate as seperate companys like they have been.

So who owns who?

Both combines come from the same factory in Grand Island NE

Ford sold to NH in the 90's.

The Europian company bought both Case & NH a couple years ago.

Many machines are coming out in 2 colors, same basic machine now.

Heard just the past month, that they might pare down to just one line of machinery again, not both. No point in coming out with the same combine in Red & Yellow/Blue, etc.

True, the tractors are fairly similar but the combines only share about 35% common parts. The Case IH machines are all single rotor systems and the NH machines are twin-rotor, each with distinct strengths and weaknesses, and a particular market for each style. They are made in the same plant in Grand Island Nebraska though so many people think they are the same machine with different paint. Also, NH still makes a conventional straw walker combine vs. rotary and Case IH does not.

I just looked all over my IH tractors, and they are both the same color, no other markings on them, and both made by the same company. Course they are both 1940 Farmall M's so that might make some difference. Can you imagine the CEOs back then even thinking where the tractor lines have gone today? They'd think we were all on drugs. Harley, it ain't us that's on drugs, it's the CEO's of those big companies. Don't know what they are on, but I want no part of it. I'm kinda fond of my 1940s Farmalls also.
