I was told by a Ford dealer that you can add a loader to a Ford 601 Workmaster tractor. Has anyone out there done this? If so how is it working....any problems with adding the loader? Is it necessary to add wheel weights to the tractor to stabilize?

Theres probably 1000s of them with loaders. I have an 801/841 which has a loader on it, almost the same tracotr just a little more HP. Only trouble with doing it is if it doesn't have power steering it will steer harder and the rear end gets a little lite. My 841 has fluid in the tires and most of the time it has a heavy back blade on the 3 point and on the blade is 6 85lbs suti case weights and at times all that weight still isn't enough for what I do with it.

So are you saying that your 801 did not have a loader and you added one? My 601 does not have p.s. I understand that when you add the loader your movements with the loader are limited...in other words since you do not have true hydraulics you can only raise and lower the bucket and dump it. This is supposedly all done using the pto. What kinds of things are you able to do with the loader? Are you limited because of the weight issue?

You can put a loader on that tractor. There is a company (Pat Paulson) www.paulsonloaders.com/ that specializes in loaders for the little Fords, including the 600 series. You can work it from the internal hydraulics or an external front mounted pump, or a PTO pump. Ford had loaders of their own, also on that tractor , and some of these had full hydraulics.
