With the higs price of fuel these days I am trying to figure if I should raise my prices, and how much. I use a MF with a 3 cyl perkins. What would be the GPH of dielel while mowing? Thanks Stan

You probably better hang on to that MF with the Perkins diesel. I never had one but from what I"ve read about them here they"re one of the best. I"ll bet that tractor of yours has a relatively small fuel tank. A telling feature. As a matter of fact, I used to come across a post every now and again by Hugh McKay. He lives up in Canada where fuel is a lot more expensive and he swore by MF"s w/Perkins engines. The Nebraska test data on these tractors is available.

I have to keep up with my meter hours, because my fuel gage is out. Have a MF-690, 67 PTO HP, cab, 1983 model, Perkins 4 cyl. Uses about 1.25 to 1.4 gallons per hour, averages about 1.3 GPH. At current prices here, that runs about $3.50 to $4.00 per hour. Tom

I would guess not much over 1 gal/hr, mowing.. My MF 245 sips fuel, it never takes as much to fill up, as I thought it would. I have tracked fuel useage in my skidsteer, that has an 86HP Perkins 4 cyl. Light use, such as smoothing takes 1 gal/hr. Heavy digging & moving dirt uses 1.5 gal/hr. HTH

I had a John Deere 4040(90 hp) and it used about 5-6 gallons an hour working hard. Almost as bad at idle! I have a 7210(96 hp-turbo) now and it uses 3-4 gph. I always thought tractor manufacturers should list gph use.

How many horsepower, how big a mower and what are you cutting? 3 cyl. with a 7 foot sickle mower could be quarts per hour.
