steering problem with 8N

I was plowing today and half way through the job something happened to the steering in my 1949 ford 8n, you can turn to the right just fine but you can only turn the steering wheel slightly to the left. Any ideas?

Same thing happened to me about three years ago. You will have to take out the steering gear box. I bought a set of replacement races and bearings and installed them. It wasn"t too difficult as I remember just took a little time to disasemble and put everything back in place.

My guess is that your upper thrust bearing is disintegrating and dropping rollers onto the sector gears.. where they are no locking the gears..

Posting this in the section specifically for 8n's might have gotten you alot more responses..
