Hi Guys,

Was all set to drill some oats/alfalfa today. Got the old drill all greased up and ready to go.

Just can't seem to find the field tho, so guess I'll wait a day 'er two. Weatherman says 6 to 10 inches by morning. :>(

I just gotta rub this in. I worked till about midnight on Sunday (typically a day I don't drive tractor) so I could get the last of my 120 acres of grass and alfalfa planted. This snow should really bring it up nice. Now my dad and I are rebuilding the loading chute and reconfiguring the crowding alleys/tub. We have to have it done by the 3rd so we can ship calves. We sure could use another hand, since you can't drill anyways.

I don't think that's fair. Your's is gonna be up before I even get the seed loaded in the darned truck. :>(

Guess I'll move some hay today. Prior owner still hasn't moved the remaining stacks off and it's in my way, so gotta take matters into my own hands, I guess. :>)

Later Dude,

Allan

We've got an easy 8 or 9 inches of heavy wet stuff by now and it's supposed to continue on thru midday tomorrow.

Far as I'm concerned, this is absolutely perfect timing as I've spent the last month working all that old neglected farmland.

This should really replenish that lost moisture.

You really seem to be getting the shaft on the weather lately. First it is snow, then that windstorm, now all that snow again. Just keep it there, don't send any of it out this way. :-)

I have some friends on a ranch north of Gillette, she said they've got about 8 inches on the ground, but tapering off (that was at noon). High winds, no visibility early this AM.

Nope, first thing this morning.

One of my gals down in Sidney says it is snowing like a bandit down there too.

Trouble is, we've got a 20 knot wind with it and it is blowin' and driftin' out in the country. Wet sloppy stuff, however.

Whoooeee Allan! Looks like winter is hanging on there for all it's worth. It's been raining so much here that there hasn't been a chance to get out too much. Hope to do a little outdoor work over the next few days. Tim

Too bad the seed isn't in the ground already. That white stuff makes good starter fertilizer. Glenn F.

Yes Sir,

Spent all yesterday morning getting that seedbed worked down just like I wanted it and we were all ready to rock and roll for today.

Oh well, can't turn down good moisture. Would sure like to see it turn to ran tho. :>(

Hey Allen, Looks like you get another day off or 2. I will be out in 90 degree heat by the weekend, so I guess the grass is always greener...By the way, can you give me the model drill you got hooked up in the picture. I have inherited one just like it but it needs some work and the markings are long gone. Thanks, and hope that funny lookin white stuff don"t set you back too much.

I wanna say "AR"???

I'll have to look at it the next time I go out there. I completely rebuilt this one.

Now, if I can just figure out how to set the seeding rate. Darned chart makes absolutely no sense to me.

You have mentioned in the past that your area of Nebraska is "remote" and sparsely populated- I think we're beginning to see why. . . 76 degrees here yesterday, the Mrs. and her honey-do list were at full cry, and I can absolutely guar-on-tee it won't snow again until next winter.

Ahhh that's why that north wind is so cool this morning. Suppose to cool us off into the 80s for today. You can always send that moisture down here too.
