I just bought a 1979 Dynahoe 190 2WD and although I drove it and operated it briefly before I made the deal I got it home to find it to hardly be able to make it up a hill or haul dig into a pile of ground. The 3-53 diesel sounds okay and seems to rev up but I have no power at all. I am thinking it may be a transmission problem but not sure. The 75+ year old previous owner said he never had a problem with it - and it set a few years. Could something have gunked up? Is the tranny shot? Any suggestions? Also would like to get a manual on it.

I think those rigs had torque convertors, might be something as simple as the fluid is low or needs changing. Try the Crawler board, there's a Dynahoe guy that frequents it every now and then.

Thanks JDknut. I sure hope you are right about the converter. This is the first time I have ever posted and didn"t realize that each "forum" was actually seperate - so I will also post my question to the Crawler Forum. Any idea where I might even begin to find a manual for this thing?

Thanks
