This is about as far from tractor talk as can be, unless I can use my loader tractor in some manner.

Last night before dark, I went outside and heard a cat...couldn't see anything. This morning, still hear it...then see it, about 40 ft. high in a cottonwood tree. Big ol' orange tomcat, not ours...but who cares. Tonight, it's still in the same spot, making less noise, but still there!

Any trick in getting a cat out of a tree without having to nail ladders together, and use a skyhook? If the tree wasn't near the back door, I'd just let nature take it's course.
Thanks guys

I can't remember, who has the plane? You or Sloroll? Paint it like a big dog and buzz him a time or two, he'll come down.

When he gets hungry.

Mark

Back in my fireman days, an inch and a half hose with a straight nozzle worked. Umm, I should mention they weren't always in the best shape after...

I think a 12 gauge with #6 shot would do it. Or I would let the cat get hungry and thirsty enough that he just climbs down. You might want to keep the dogs away from that tree for a couple of days. They may have startled the cat badly and now he is afraid to come down.

I have climbed a lot of trees in my life and never saw a cat skeleton in any of them. He will come down when he is ready. Don't worry!

Gotta agree, he'll find his way down. We have a pair of those hugh Raymond swing lift forklifts at work that are guided up and down narrow eisles by a radio signal from a wire in the floor. The eisles are 5' wide and six full pallet levels high or about 24'. a standard forklift stages a pallet off the line at the end of the row and the Raymond operator comes to the end of the row and picks it up. He then rides in the operator station with the load up to the rack position he is putting the pallet in. One night 'Dennis' our Raymond operator was raising up with a pallet and just shy of the 6th level the reel that carries the umbilical cord from the operator's station to the "tractor" part of the lift seized up and pulled the umbilical cord in half causing the machine to shut down immediately, and stranding Dennis about 23' off the floor with the load about 1/2 way into the rack so we could'nt even bring Dennis down using the emergency valve. Dennis is an older Puerto Rican fellow about 5' tall but with awork ethic, heart and sense of humor larger than most men. Well he's all upset first because he thought it was his fault and second because he was stuck. My maintenance guys and I decided we couldn't being him down due to the pallet situation, and Dennis is yelling "what do I do? what do I do? So I threw my hand up and yelled "the he** with him! if he don't get hungry sooner, The Raymond service people will be here some time tomorrow"! We thought he was going to cry, then everybody cracked up. I yelled hang Dennis, I'll rescue you, right after we find a camcorder and call 911. I brought the other Raymond lift around into the eisle with an empty pallet on it and rose up to Dennis's pallet so he could climb over on to the lift with me and ride down. We still get to laughing about this once in awhile!
