I have a 6 volt Farmall 300 parked in a location with no electricity. It's used infrequently, maybe 10 time per year. Do any of you guys know of a suitable 6 volt solar battery charger/maintainer for this application. There seem to be a lot of 12 volt systems but not 6 volt. Any help appreciated.

Tractor supply makes a 6v solar battery charger for their 6v electric fencers.

They can be pricy.. like 25$. If you are handy with a soldering iron. then you can find a 7806 TIP30 vr, bias the ground for a bit higer then 6v... or find a 7808, and add a si diode inline with charge output, then just use that and a cheapy harbor freight 9$ 12v solar charger.. etc.

Hi Jim,

Use another cheap 6v battery#2 in series to make up 12v for the PV required voltage. Make sure the 6v battery#1 has been fully charged before storing and adding the PV maintainer. This keeps battery#2 from trying to discharge to equalize with battery#1.

You'll only need a 1w/2w PV without a charge controller(CC) attached or you'll over charge the battery. Buy the 12v PV from a solar company as there cheaper, $15 on sale.

Example:
I use 3, 12v chargers in series to recharge my 36v golf cart with great results. Only one of the chargers controls out put amps and the "units" needs to be on a timer as the charger voltage regulator(CC) doesn't work in this configuration.
