Checked hydraulic hose in pumpkin and o-rings in cylinder.Everything looks good. Why wouldn't any oil come out the back of the hydraulic line, going back to the rear hydraulic lift system?

Does it have a transport valve at the back of the tractor- near the remote outlet? Try turning that.

Tried that. Screwed adjusting knob in, when engine running no lift, screwed all the way out, no lift.

The operator manual has a good long explanation on how it works- can't remember it by heart.

Loosened line on pressure side of transport valve, started engine no fluid came out the pressure side of line. Do you think it is the pump? Or do you think a piece of debris is in the line? This tractor has sat for 5 years, and now we have it and are trying to figure out what is going on.

Did check the manual when I was in the shop today- transport valve gets screwed one way for raising/lowering a wheeled implement, the other way for controlling a header, etc where you want full flow of the hydraulic oil. Apparently restricts flow on a wheeled implement to drop it slowly. Bottom line is - it should allow flow whether screwed all the way in or all the way out. Before ripping into the pump- do the simple things- like check for obstruction in the line. Also- if you have no previous hisory on this tractor- check the rate of drop screw on the (left?) side of the tractor- under the fuel tank. Have you checked for adequate hydraulic fluid level? Do the lift arms work properly? Put a load on them and see if they lift- like hook to a tree, etc. Just raising up without a load does not count. How about linkage of control system? Relief valve stuck open, bypassing all oil back to pump?

Thanks I'll print a copy of your reply for my husband. He'll have to check it out when he gets home. I know that he has checked the fluid and put all fresh in.
Meanwhile, I have to jump on the Farmall and get in the field.

Pulled relief valve apart and everything looks good. Left relief apart, started engine and no oil came out at all. Followed both hydraulic lines to the front, one was on the left side of the gastank and the other is on the right side. Disconnected both lines, blew air threw lines and were clear. Next, blew air into pressure side heard oil bubble on pressure side. Did the same to return side. Started engine with lines disconnected, no oil at all. Moved levers up and down still no oil.
