How do I open ram to install rebuild kit? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

on the ram end of the cylinder is a spanner nut with 2 holes in it.use a spanner wrench or punch to loosen it.if your real careful you can also use a pipe wrench.that cylinder is easy to fix.gannon has a kit with everything you need.good luck.

i am no expert but i have rebuilt about every kind of cylinder found on backhoe's dozers and farm equip. these are the only types i have came accrost. the type with a nut that screws internally but im guessing if it was that type you wouldnt be asking. the kind that has two small holes accrost from one another that uses a tool that would resemble somewhat a pair of chanel lock pliers with two pins to fit in the holes and turn it. the kind with an internal snap ring and i came acrost one the other day that had a bolt on each side of the ram that was taped through the barrel wall to the other side.then of corse the ones with external rods with nots on both ends.
