I'm running some rough estimates on building a home with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and need a ballpark figure on the price of a yard of concrete in the midwest (KC area).

Sorry for the OT, but I knew you guys would have the answer!

i have a part time help that works at imi and he said 75 at most plants in the midwest for them. and dont go less than 8 your wastin money. i live in a house built in 1852 with 10 inch and rock fill and the one barn is also and there are only 2 cracks in the barn and 1 in the house. i would consider that good. we have done that on footers before but make sure you vibrate it good to get it filled and set to the rocks..

If you skimp on any thing don't do it with concrete ,the foundation should be at least 8" thick . As a cheapskate tried that around here and 2 years later he paid out the azz to have his house jacked up and a new one repoured as the old one crumbled .Besides what are the local codes that will dicate what you have to do .

Here at the lake of the ozarks its running some where between $85 and $110 a yard depending on how far they have to go and how many yards you get. Plus for what your doing you me to hire a pump truck to pump it in to the forms

Thanks, old.

You are right, I will need a pump truck. But if I am figuring the amount of concrete needed (70 yards with a 6 inch wall), I will have to find a different means of building this house...maybe I could go with a 4 inch wall.

Go with 8 or 10 inch and since your in rock country just loose fill the forms with rock. It cuts down on how much cement you use and if done right is almost as strong. Years ago they would pour walls that way and then when they removed the forms you have the rocks showing and it didn't look half bad.
