I wish I could be there to try it out. It sounds like an adventure. Good luck with this project, hope you hear the sounds of two engines.

Watch how long you run that pony motor! It is lubricated by splash oil from the big 'un. The oil is held in a small resevoir on the bottom of the pony motor. Not sure if there is a way to check it or not.

At least that is the way it was on my cousin's D7. He lost a pony motor because he wanted to let it warm up a bit and went into the house to have a coffee. 15 or 20 minutes is waaaaayyyyy to long.

The first thing I would do is check the fluids before trying to make anything run. Then see if the pony will turn over. Pull the plug(s) and see if it will spin and to get the oil moving again with no load on anything. Check to see if there is a spark. Put the plugs back in and try a little gas or ether and see if it will try to go. If you get the pony running try turning the diesel decompressed to get it oiled inside. If it makes white smoke try full compression. Good luck.
