Hi all,

Having experience with the challenge of finding old pistons and sleeves for my F-20, I got to wondering about who makes all the sets for the slighly newer tractors and if they have the molds or what not to make them still for the F-20. I'm curious what size run it would take to put these back into production and what it would cost. Might make a decent investment. Any idea who makes the sleeve and piston sets for old Farmalls?

Thanks,

Tony

He might be thinking of Egg Machine Company. They make all kinds of engine parts.

A while back i had a long talk with clevit about making a new run on of bearing for the farmall M diesels thru the 450 Diesels and from whati was told it would take over 50 grad for a run , Now with all the resto work going on and the chance of selling all that could be make they are missing out on the market as all the older tractors are getting redone and parts are getting in short supply .

50 Grand for a run ! This corpirate stuff is out of control !

Should allready have all the tooling sitting around paid for from years gone by,millions of people out of work in this country. It's also amazing of all the back ordered parts too.

$50,000 is nothing. I'm actually surprised it's not a LOT higher. When You look at everything needed to make a precision plain bearing insert and all the machines necessary to make one, and the fact that people who REALLY know what they're doing have to set those machines up and run them for a really short production run of maybe a hundred or so sets of bearings as opposed to tens of thousands of sets... and the inspections required..... And all those people deserve a decent wage....Buying short run parts is EXPENSIVE.... I do it at work every day. I'm actually surprised a really good Tier 1 Automotive supplier would even consider making such a short production run.
