Started Fighting fire this morning.Hodgeman county Kansas.Someone threw a cigarette out and got CRP grass on fire.Wind blowing 40-50 mph out of south.6 fire departments and 20-25 Big tractors with disc and 4 county grader .Wind was out of west southwest all day .The fire ran 10 miles long and 3 miles wide.Just was getting it out and Someone about 15 miles west threw another cigarette out and got another fire going .It has burnt 10 square miles and just had it under control and the wind shifted to the north 40mph.Both fire went crazy and racing south.Now have 10 fire departments fighting it.Every farmer close is fighting it with tractors discs ,and hauling water to the fire trucks with whatever they got that will haul water.Only lost one home so far.But it's a long way from being out.Been at it for 14 hrs.Post more later.Water tank is full...idontno

Had something like this happen in Lyon County about 10 years ago. A personal finally called in that they had followed a car with the driver throwing lit peices of paper out the window. Guy started 6 or 7 major fires in a single day.

God bless the brave men and women fighting these fires. We dont have any fires I have heard about in MN right now, wish I could send some of our snow down to help you out. Stay safe out there!

It was out last night..Now the wind is blowing 30 mph and it's starting up again.14,000 acres burned so far.Going to be a long day...Please don't throw out your cigarette butts..idontno

My heart goes out to the brave people fighting this fire and to those who may suffer because of it.

Just showed my wife this pic. She said she just read that 3.5 million acres have burned in the US so far this year. Last year was the driest year in My lifetime, but so far this year things are looking a lot better.
