I have to drive our JD 450 crawler about 1 mile on a hard stone road every time we use it. will this put undue stress on the undercarriage and if so, what gear and speed should we drive it to reduce wear?

I really don't think this will add much stress at all. You will probably get more wear pulling something 1/4 mile in the dirt. I don,t think high gear would be good. When Dad was farming we would put a lot of miles on our tractors going from one field to another. Just sit back and enjoy the day. Stan
