I was reading the post below about the ad on TV showing a man mowing corn.I was wondering if any of you saw the movie Walk The Line and saw the scene where they were picking cotton by hand? The cotton was still green and the bolls looked to me like they were just beginning to open.I think they should have waited a few more weeks to film that scene. But it was a good movie though.

The part about the cotton patch that bothered me was the length of the sacks. A 4 or 5 foot sack would kill you. You need a 12 to 14 foot sack.
Been there, done that, my back still hurts.

I read an article on those tractors in a magazine. They were supplied by a guy if I remember right, in Arkansas. One of them didn't have an engine in it when he brought them to Memphis and he had to pull the engine in the other one. They had the one on the bank of the lake hooked to a cable system to move it back and forth. They placed the other one in the lake to make it appear he had backed it into the water.

A post made on Saturday on this same subject mentions one Richard Walker as owner. I wonder if it was indeed an Oliver Johnny had? Did he like Oliver or buy the first thing he saw? If it was truly that hilly you'd think he'd have a utility. All trivial, just wonder how much research was done on the subject.

something tells me that Olivers were used out of " what can I get" moving making and not historically acuracy for this type of movie....

Heck Jasper, Indiana was Rockford-Rachine in a league of there own. LOL.

Excellent movie. How about the part where he put that Oliver in the lake. Thought he was gonna roll it. I almost couldn't watch!
