Can get a 91 Dodge Dynasty with a automatic transmission for a reasonable price, 94,000 miles. The transmission kicks out of over-drive when you slow down and it will not go back into over-drive as you get back to road speed. The seller states that if I shift to drive and than back to OD, it will shift back to OD. He states that he was told to change oil in the trans and it will correct the problem. I did some investigating and seems the Dynasties have a transmission problem. I called a local wrecking yard to get a price on a used one, and he told me that they go as fast as he can them. Sounds like it would be something stay away from. Any opinions? Thanks

If a seller sez a tune-up/ trans flush will fix a problem, ask yourself why the seller hasn"t done it himself to be able to sell a problem-free car...
Google for owners groups for the car, run their forums for your problem, see what they say...run for TSB"s(NHTSA,etc); if your mech, or any you know, subscibe to Alldata (who don"t really have All The Data)they can find out what they say..or better, if your mech etc belongs to IATN...
Use counts: Hard/fast hiway use may cause problems that won"t occur if used just easily around town..Good luck...

We had one. It was a good car but did have to put a trans in it at about 65K. It was doing the same thing. If you don't mind having the trans done you will probably like the car. That v6 is pretty spunky and the trans is the weak point. I wouldent put a used one in it. You just have no idea what you are getting and may end up doing it again very soon.

You may be better off taking the car in for a trans service before buying it. Pay for the service and if it dosen't fix the problem all you are out is about $75.00. Then you can decide if you want to buy it knowing that a new trans is just a short time off. If it is a good enough deal and the rest of the car is in good shape it may be worth the repair cost.
