Haybine Baling Question

Will my MF 135-Diesel be able to handle a 7-foot Haybine and small square baler, like a NH 273 or NH68? Any recommendations on used Haybine and Balers? I want to buy used and keep down costs. I have only about 15-acres of Orchardgrass, slightly hilly. I'd probably drop bales on ground, and not use a pull wagon. My budget won't allow buying another tractor or fancy new stuff.

Word to the wise. I would not buy a NH or anyone elses haybine that has an enclosed drive shaft. If they require attention, and they either do or will, they are a real pain. Have no idea why they did that.

JD makes a nice 1209 (yours would be a 1207 for 7') that is light hears ahead from a maintenance standpoint, and every other aspect I can think of.

Tractor is plenty big. haybine is light and requires very little hp to cut and crimp. Your tractor is plenty large to square bale. BTDT

Just one word of caution on bailing. If you don't have an independent PTO on your tractor buy and install an overrun clutch on the PTO shaft. The first time you are baling and want to stop the tractor before the baler stops you will know real fast why you need one. Course some balers have builtin overrun clutches..... and some don't.

You can pull a 7' haybine. NH makes good ones, and I believe JD does also. They aren't usually cheap though. JD and NH both make good balers, and your tractor will handle any of the smaller balers without a thrower. You should be able to find an older baler that works well for a reasonable price.

Well you tractor is around 38HP. I usto bale hay with an Oliver 77 which is also 38HP. I used a JD-14T baler and a NH 460 9 foot MOCO so yes you should do ok with what you have

I have used a JD 14T behind a Kubota L2350 ( 23 pto hp ) and a NH TC-30 ( 27 pto hp ) so you should be fine on using an older square baler.
