Hi All,

72° here today so I was able to get out and accomplish a little somethin' fer a change.

Finally got this chain sucked back up in this old machine and spinnin' again.

Took the biggest part of the afternoon just to time that crazy, old sow; sure wouldn't wanna tackle that job on a hot summer day! That thing is heavy and really hard to manage all by yerself.

I'm bushed! But, at least it is in there, running, and square with the world once again. Now to go 'round and hook up all those other little tinker toys that it takes to make 'er bale hay. :>)

Didn't we all decide a while back that you were gonna paint it?

Heck, I dunno.

I've got so darned much junk around here that needs attention, I can't keep track of it all.

'Spose I'd better take a peek down inside the rearend of that old 966 'cause it's first on the startin' line this spring.

That tractor is gonna get the surprise of it's long ol' life. Hee-aww, getty up! :>)

Allan,

You were 3 degrees warmer than we were here in Western SC. Guess the chinook arrived, huh.

How many links did you take out of the chain?

KEH,

One bar/3 links. Took me three stabs to get that goofy ol' burly thing threaded and timed right. Sure is nice to see 'er running straight down the rollers tho.

However, if there is ever a "next" time, I'm gonna pull the bars out like the book says. Gawd! That thing is heavy when it is all in one piece! :>)

I've still got to fine tune those cam shoes and then I think this part of 'er is done.

Allan,

New Holland was generous with the chain, weren't they? Maybe the sprockets are worn enough to cause that much slack. Anyway, glad you got the job done. Sounds like that was the worst one facing you.

Sure was beautiful today. 3 short months till you'll be baling hay. I spent the better part of the day pushing manure in the corrals. Appearantly that smell lingers with you because my roommates commented about it and left the room.

Must be nice. Up here we don't bale until late August, and only get one cut.

yeah, It's a 2-man job. I helped my neighbor put new chain in his 851 a couple years ago. Took us most of the afternoon and we drank a lot of A&W cream soda. I wasn't even gonna mess with my 855 and hired it done in town.

Allan YABUT you were out in the clean air and could stand back and take pride in what you got done for the day----me i worked in a factory all day breathin' oily air with a flashlite in one hand and a wrench in the other(they covered all the sky-lites with tin because it was cheeper)-and got kicked in the face because we cost too much- talk of closeing the plant---maybe they would be doin' me a favor if they did close it--I'd go back to workin' on farm eq. instead of forklifts--you look like you are having TO MUCH FUN
