planning to frost seed old pasture with red clover, local seed dealer sure seems like a decent person but I like to know exactly what I"m getting into

should I insist on new (2006) seed or is last years leftover seed still good??

should I get a discount if all he has is leftover 2005 seed to offset lower quality seed?

he mentioned something about innoculation last year and that stumped me too.

If you get last years seed, insist on a discount of no less than 10%. Yes, it will still grow but your germination percentage will drop. I sowed some about 2 weeks ago and used "fresh" seed as the dealer would only knock 5% off for year old seed. Just out of curiousity, how much are they asking per pound? I paid $1.40 here in southern Illinois. Last year it was $1.00.

Last years seed should be discounted some. As far as the innoculate its a backtrea that hepl the clover grow when fist planted and should be used when you plant clover
