I just purchased a 1937 Cat 22 serial number 1J1328 SP. Can anyone please tell me what type Champion spark plugs to put in? What does the SP mean in the serial number?
Thanks much,
Richard

The "sp' is for special parts. It refers to special parts installed during the manufacturing process, but not to add on type options. Most commonly it is gear ratios.

Originally, a Champion "1 Com." spark plug was specified. I don't know if there are still any of those around, or if there is a modern cross-reference, but it's something to go on.

It looks like the modern equivalent is a W-14.
