The specs on building the 1/2 D are something like this. The engine is a 3 1/2 Briggs with a old style carb due to hood clearence. The Briggs is shaft driven into a Hydro from a 316 J D lawn tractor. The pump in the Hydro was reversed due to the reversed rotation of its input shaft. The clutch lever controls the Hydro by way of special spring loaded linkage. The driver has to keep the hand on the clutch lever to maintain motion. For safety the flywheel and the belt pulley do not turn. The rear wheels are from a 1984 Mercury and the hubcaps were made to look like the rear cast centers on the GOLD D, The fake engine block is a 6 inch pipe split front to rear and a 4 inch flat bar added. The new grill screen was made by Raleigh Oliver at IPCO MACHINE. The hood was made by DAVE GEYER. The paint is Dupont Acrylic enamel, 1998 G M code 63. I put one quart of paint on the tractor, one quart on me and one quart on the floor after the dust settled. At one time there were 88 items that I had sandblasted, primed and painted gold while hanging in my shop, sorry I did not take any photos during the building of this project. It took 625 hours to restore the real D and i guess as many hours in ithe little D. As of now it is to go the the big Farm Toy at Branderburg, KY March 3 & 4 2006. Enjoy, I have while building this model.
