I just picked up a matched used set of rear tractor tires. They looked great until I unloaded them and noticed a cut about 2" lon in the center of the tire where the lugs meet. Should I make my own boot and glue it in somehow or take it somewhere and have it vulcanized? Is there a premade boot that you can buy? thanks.

A better idea have the wound sectioned this is better that any boot or patch most tire shops know where to send them for this repair .

Section repair and vulcanized are used to mean the same process. The damaged section is cut out of the tire and raw rubber is vulcanized into the hole and then a large boot is glued on the inside of the tire for strength.

They make boots for that type of repair. They come in sizes like 2X2, 4X4, up to around 12X12 but the problem is the cords will still be showing and that makes for the tire drying out in that area. If you can have it vulcanized

Yeah, what Old said, have it vulcanized. Where the cords are cut they will keep tearing, but that isn"t too bad a cut in that part of the tire.
