I have just purchased a tractor that the rims were painted with out masking tires what is the best way to clean up tires thanks

You might try some of that stuff you buff tire tubes with before patching..kind of a rubber cleaner.

I would guess it would depend on how cured the paint is. I got some overspray on a decal a couple of weeks ago, took it off with a rag and some WD40. Got paint off, did not ruin new decal, maybe my luck is getting better???:>)

A rag and spray cans of carb cleaner will remove it.

If none of that works.. or even naptha, try flat black paint... I've seen it done on discolored but otherwise good tires.

I always use laquer thinner to remove the paint! Use rubber gloves, if yer worried about the effects of it on yer skin, but as fer me 50 years of auto body work hasn't hurt mine yet. You might want to run several layers of masking tape around the rims before starting, just be careful around the edges!

I have heard that brake fluid works well for this. Just rub the painted areas with a rag wet with the fluid. Mike.
