My working tractors are a 50 MM UTSLP, 62 Big Mo 400, and a 62 Brown Jet. Use them every day.

I have heard that anything 30 years plus is an antique. (no offense to anyone older than that)

All clubs that I know and there are several call it antique thru 1939 and 1940 and up to 1955 are called clasic and 1956 and up have no term for except are considered modern and then there is new

At a lot of pulls around here 61 or older is considered a antique

Personnally, I don't think anything built after 1942, (the year I was born) as antique! especially ME!

Did a "restoration" on a '49 JD B a couple years back. Wife strongly objects if we call it "antique," and then point out she was born the same year. Guess it's all relative!

You will have to check with the pulling associations and show associations ,they are the only ones with "the rules",the rest of us don't have any.

Who knows? I still use my 42 H daily during the summer for haying and other small jobs around the yard, along with keeping the weeds worked under in the tree rows. It's only 64 years old and I don't the old girl has earned her keep yet, so we keep using it. So I guess antique can't go by whether or not you are still using it. Antique is what you make of it, I guess.

It becomes an antique when used parts for it cost five-times what they're worth.

When you find one that has been sitting out for years ,tires have dry rotted, rusty sheet metal. no emblems,a lot of rust, all fluids are 1/2 white caused by water, stuck engine, now thats an antique. So we buy it for a few hundred dollars and then we start thinking, no if I would buy this and then that it would be not too bad.So we buy those parts and it helps so we want to make it better so we continue to buy until it looks new and runs good. So now that old cheap tractor is worth 4-5 thousand dollars and a much better looking antique. An expensive hobby.

There are set rules for classes in the antique pulling circles but even that can be debated. i guess my opinion (and we all know what opinions are like) is that a tractor has outlived it's normal working life and is religated to pards shows and playing with the grandkids. This varies greatly amoung collectors and even within collections themselves. Shoot, I have tractors over 50 years old that work feeding cattle daily while some newer models set in the shed for show only.

Ya Howard, my two working tractors are both 1940 Farmall M's, and I couldn't get along without them. Harley
