I have two tractors, one a 2-cylinder John Deere, and one a 4-cylinder Allis Chalmers Model G. Can E-85 motor fuel(85% ethanol and 15% gasoline,) be used safely in either of these tractors without damage to the engines other than to fuel system gaskets? Thanks.

NO. E-85 is made to be used in engines that are DESIGNED for it- which would exlude all farm tractors. E-85 autos will have a sticker at the fuel tank filler indicating that. Older engines can handle E10 or E20, not E85.

Dont think i would even think about it unless you want trouble with valves, carb and even tank unless it is spotless.

E85 is a very corrosive fuel that is why my truck set up to burn it has a plastic fuel tank teflon coated inside all rubber hoses and stailess steel lines ,ther was several older cars trashed when this fuel first came to town by people trying to burn it bacause it was so cheap ,I would not mix it over 30-40 % just to be safe .

E-85 will not damage anything anything, but the tractors may not perform very well without first making some modifications to the fuel system. E-10 however will be just fine.
