The wind just blew the roof off the new lean to type shed I built last fall. It just picked it up and spun it around and then back on the old mobile home that is the back wall of the shed. Guess I'll get to have fun putting it back on. Oh well at least I'm not bored LOL

Pretty windy here too. Lost the roof on the horses loafing shed around 4:30 yesterday. I guess that changes my plans for this weekend.

Old, this pic will make you feel better. That is my shop in Feb. Tree was 58 years old by ring count, 25" dia trunk. Shop is 8 years, wasn't really planning on putting a new roof on so soon.

That is my gaurd dog in the foreground. She's on the look out for grizzly bears and bengal tigers that might get in there and chew on my tractor tires.

Joe

Joe, I don't know where you are in Washington, but in Chehalis we had a dandy blow in December- lots of blowdown in the neighborhood. We had big firs on two sides of the house, including 5 about the size of yours standing 10 feet from the west end of the house, and the wind was straight out of the west. We got lucky, but it was a good scare. When the logging outfit came to get the neighbor's blowdowns, we hired them to log everything around the house, and pile and burn the slash. Ended up with about $4,500 for the logs, and it opened up the area so well that we wished we had done it years ago. No more fir needles! BTW, the dog is just showing good sense- if we're gonna have stuff like that going on, best keep your distance!

Mike, I live about 120 due north of you near Quilcene.

I selective cut about an 2 acre for the house 5 years ago, got about half the $ you did.

Dropped six trees yesterday, have to get the rest of this one bucked so I can get my road truck out of the garage behind me. Squeeze wants to travel this weekend, thought I was going to get out of it, fat chance.

The shop is fixed except for paint, some rewiring, moving workbenches, machines, & tools back in place, etc. Just part of living in the woods, my kinda life.

Sorry Old, just trying to make you feel better, didn't mean to hijack your thread.

Joe

Joe,

Same thing happened to my neighbor's house.

In the middle of the night, and that ol' pine tree came right thru the middle of 'er and split the house in two.

Was howlin here last night and most of the day too but not enough to take roofs off. That's too bad about the roof. Kind of dried out the little dab of moisture we had last week real fast and dirt was blowing. Was back to red flag warning extreme fire danger again. Sure need some green before lightning pops here.

Yepper, everything okay here. That mess two weeks ago went around three sides of us and since then just rain. Boy we needed it. I think the pastures might make something after all now. Just livin right and the Good Lord watching over us down here. Got cows having calves almost every night but that's a good thing. Harley
