Skidloader Question

How do skidloaders tie the engine to the hydraulic pump? Or basically, what comes after the flywheel on a skidloader. I know of a large skidloader sitting with no engine. I know I could fabricate the mounts and electricals to get a different engine in it, but I dont know how skidloaders tie the engine to the hyrdraulic system. Can anyone give me a crash course? Thanks

The engines I've had out on Bobcats basically have u-joint couplers..What kind of skid-steer is it? ~brad

Its an 843. I bid on one with a bad engine this weekend, but I didnt get it. This 843 doesnt have any engine, and I am not sure what engine was in it.

Yes the 843 would have the double u-joint with a spline coupling to turn the pumps.
843 used an Isuzu engine, tough engine and tough Bobcat, good combo.

So as long as I could get that splined coupling to attach to the flywheel I could put a different engine in it right? Does the coupling bolt to the bolts that hold the flywheel on?
Thanks

Theorically(sp?) yes, but you will need to maintain the double u-joint coupling to take care of any engine, pump alignment issues.
Also the flywheel on the original engine had fins on it (about 6" long) to take the place of a radiator cooling fan.
No, the coupling bolts to the flywheel with different bolts other than the flywheel bolts.
