More and more, I am begining to think that dis-connect switches are the way to go. Allan's post below added to this opinion. Friend has a tractor at his "summer home". No reason for it to run its battery down every month, but it does. Dis-connect switch took care of that too. Besides, Its at a place where kids "could" get to it. Mention of 24 volt systems reminded me of washing my Case 1200 and having the wet 24 volt battery short to the mounting bracket and turned it red hot til I pulled the cables. 24 volts is just like a welder.

I added a battery disconnect switch to my tractor. Marine switch rated at 200amps.Just put it in at the ground connection and hooked the cable to it.It has a big red "key" that you can take out. It added a great deal of peace of mind for me. I was always concened about a youngster getting on and playing. Having it start or just roll on the starter and hurting someone or worse. It is one of those easy things to add that you kind of go "why didn't I do that before"!
