Morning Guys,

I gotta crawl inside this baler to do some work on 'er and in order to release the tension on the chain, the rear gate has to be opened.

Then, it dawns on me that the remotes on this old junkyard tractor probably haven't worked for years. No tellin' how long it has set. :>(

Had to cycle 'er a couple of times to get that cold oil to move, but she does work like she's 'sposed to.

Whew! That's a relief! :>)

Hi Allan looks like that turned into an outside job. Your just going to have to build a new shop. Because when you get that cab tractor to run that baler it ain't goin fit thru that door either. Good luck on your baler repair job.

There is a prop bar or timber somewhere that locks the rear up when "you crawl inside" right? Hate to think what would happen if the hydraulic pressure released....

Hi Ernie,

Yeah, there are a couple of those safety catches, but I won't use 'em.

What I'll do is pull the bale starting cams out, then let the tailgate down. That lets the chain go limp and lay down in the bottom of the chamber.

Then, I'll pull a door on the rear of the old heifer, pull a few bars off the chain and crawl in there to do my deeds. :>)

Hi Howard,

Yeah I know, but I got a long ways to go before I'm ready fer the green stuff.

I'm pretty sure that I get to put a compression sissor in this old feller. Darned thing has been sprung somewhere along the line; probably when the chain broke on that last owner.

It bales fine, but it just "bothers me" 'cause the thing isn't running square to the world. Guess I should have looked fer an 855 like yours. :>(

Anyway, not looking forward to this job at all. :>(

LOL!

Yep, the neighbor has an 855.

Just about the exact same thing except everything on his is built "beefier" and he has the air bags instead of the springs fer the bale compression.

Hi JD,

Oh, its a merry-go-round around here most of the time, that's fer sure.

I wish I were rich then I could afford good stuff. But alas, the way it stands, I gotta fix junk. Just wish I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, tho. :>)

Now Allan, look carefully, maybe even very carefully ,(after cleaning those red tinted (by paint overspray) contacts) and you WILL see the light. Tunnel vision is a required condition for this to occur. What you will eventually see will be identified as the rear `Guide`light on your Farmall H that is facing the sun..... ..... ..... ... Kinda boring here tonight waiting for the free freezing rain, so... QR

Allan, I aint up on tractors too much since I retired. What do that tractor have for a tranny.
Just the 5spd. with TA? You can probably bale hay
in 4th with the TA up. How big your bales gonna be by weight. Be carefull and keep warm.

Hi Steve,

I'm gonna put this little hydro outfit on the swather and run the baler with the 966.

Bales bounce from 1200 to 1400; somewhere in there.

Allan
