trying to determin year of manufacture. engine is tecumseh 143 216022 1362d the rider itself had no model imformation i was able to determin the model # by searching sears the unit has a didtinct gear box that is only on 2 models 131.96316 being the other

Look on the flywheel housing, the tin piece! on the side, rear, or near the rounded part over near the cylinder head are some letters and numbers. I.E.: Type, model, code, or words/numbers like that. You might have to sand thru any rust or scrape off the dirt. These are the numbers you must post here. The numbers you posted are the Sears mfgr. numbers, and only should be used for info on the mower itself, not the engine! Some of the older engines had an aluminum plate on the cylinder with the info there, and i have even seen a sticker glued on someplace, on newer engines, which soon becomes useless! Rusty

rusty the only numbers on the engine are the sears id # no other plate etc paint stripped off engine during refurbishment there were no numbers on the machine for model #
as for sears .com no in fo for when that model was produced best guess 1965 to 1969 based on other similar models
